Summer Fun at Telemark Resort

Mountain biking

Anyone can enjoy the fun of riding beautiful Northwoods trails. Telemark is internationally known as a mountain biking Mecca. Each September it hosts the nation's largest off-road bicycle race, the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival. The trailhead for three of the CAMBA trails (Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association) is right outside the lodge. You can ride the easy 2.2 mile Out & Back Trail, the challenging 6.7 mile Esker Trail or the easy rolling 9.5 mile Sleigh Trail. Hundreds of miles of other well-marked CAMBA Trails are nearby. TREK mountain bikes are available to rent (see Rental Rates).

Disc Golf

Enjoy the natural beauty of Telemark Resort with a round of Disc Golf.
Telemark's newly installed 24 hole disc golf course plays to a par 78. The course covers a variety of terrain from the open fairways surrounding the resort to the top of Mt. Telemark and the narrow fairways through the forest. The cost to play the course is $5.00 per adult and $4.00 for children. Bring your own equipment or you can rent from us for $5.00 per equipment bag.

Road biking

You can experience the beauty of the Chequamegon National Forest and surrounding lake country from the seat of a bicycle. Breathe in the clean pine-scented air as you pedal paved road loops from 7 to 50 miles in length. A great way to see wildlife, lightly traveled local roads can take you to scenic overlooks or a National Forest swimming beach. Roads with more traffic, like County M and US 63, have paved shoulders. TREK bikes are available to rent (see Rental Rates).
Open 10 am to 6 pm.

River and lake canoeing

For a fun and scenic outing, dip a paddle in the Namekagon River or Garden Lake. Flowing past the northern boundary of Telemark Resort, the Namekagon is a famous route of the voyageur, little changed in 300 years. Protected as a National Scenic River, a canoe or kayak is the perfect craft for exploring its sparkling waters. If you long for lake views you can rent a canoe at Telemark Pointe, eleven miles east of the resort on Garden Lake, which connects to Lake Namekagon (see Rental Rates).

Fishing on rivers and lakes

Your big catch lies lurking in the pools of the Namekagon River or the placid waters of Garden Lake. Telemark offers both unique fishing opportunities. The Namekagon River flows past the northern boundary of Telemark resort. An excellent stream for brook trout, the Namekagon is part of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. At Telemark Pointe, eleven miles east on Garden Lake, you can rent a fishing boat and cast to your heart's content (see Rental Rates). Garden Lake connects to vast Lake Namekagon, one of the three managed trophy musky lakes in Wisconsin.

Information on professional fishing guide service is available at the Cable Area Chamber of Commerce at www.cable4fun.com or call, (800)533-7454 or (715)798-3833, or the Hayward Lakes Area Visitor and Convention Bureau at www.haywardlakes.com or call (800)724-2992.
